Accessibility & Inclusivity

We design PLPG so everyone can find, understand and use our resources — on any device and with assistive technologies.

Our commitment

We aim for WCAG 2.1 AA where practical: semantic HTML, keyboard-first interactions, good contrast, and readable content. We test with keyboard navigation and assistive tech simulators regularly.

Key accessibility features

  • Skip link

Jump directly to main content for keyboard users.

  • Keyboard operable

All interactive elements reachable via Tab and Enter/Space.

  • Focus-visible

Clear, large focus outlines to track navigation state.

  • High contrast toggle

Increase contrast for readability without breaking layout.

  • Text resizing

Persisted font-scale that respects layout and line-length.

  • Semantic HTML & ARIA

Roles and states added only where needed for assistive tech.

Inclusive content guidelines

  1. Write plain, direct sentences; lead with the conclusion.
  2. Use descriptive link text (e.g., “Download NDPA checklist”).
  3. Include concise alt text for meaningful images; use alt="" for decoration.
  4. Do not rely on color alone to convey meaning; include labels/icons.
  5. Provide transcripts or captions where audio/video is used.
